Annual Church Retreat
Church retreat is a fun and relaxing time to be together as a church community in a camp setting. It is a great opportunity to learn to know each other better, sharing recreation, meals and meaningful times of interaction together. This will be our first retreat since 2019!
This is also our first year at Camp Dark Waters. The camp is located right next to a river (up to 14 feet deep). Cabins and dining hall are rustic; they are screened in but are not winterized (mostly unheated). Cabins range from 5-15 single beds each; sleeping areas are shared. Cabins do have electricity; some have glass windows and some have just screens. They will be chilly if the weather is cool. Prepare for the weekend with warm clothing and sleeping bags. Each person should bring bedding for a single bed, ideally a warm sleeping bag or warm blankets with sheets, and pillow.
Campers may also choose to bring a tent and will walk tents/gear back to the site (5-10 min. walk from the main area; cars cannot drive to the site). The camp has five showers and multiple single-stall bathrooms (these are outside, with roof, walls, and hot water for showers). Two bathrooms and one shower are handicapped accessible.
Structured activities are held Saturday and Sunday mornings, and Saturday evening will be an opportunity for square dancing and music. Saturday afternoon is free time for hiking, fishing, canoeing, gaga, disc golf, and more.
Men’s Retreat
This retreat for men and boys (older than 12 years old) is an opportunity for learning, recreation and fellowship. We typically have some reflection time on a theme, have time for recreation and conversation with the goal of building community and connection with each other. We meet at Black Rock Retreat Center in Quarryville, PA in the fall.
